I’m selling a set of polished stainless steel beetle hinge covers from Aircooled Accessories.
“These are identical reproductions of a very hard to find accessory. Originally available through Perohaus of Europe, they neatly fit over the hinges on all years of the Beetle to give that finishing touch.”
Unfortunately, they don’t quite fit on my car. The space between the hinge and the pinch weld on the drivers side is a little to tight for the covers to slip in as they are supposed to, due to a front end collision my ’67 had years ago.
They came shipped in a nice box along with an AAC logo sticker and an AAC logo air freshener to hang from the mirror.

It’s made from the same galvanized steel and is exactly the same minus the slotted 6mm bolt and square nut.”

I have reproduced the jack restraint strap. Put that final factory touch on your collector ’67 Beetle!
The restraint strap apparently has never been available for purchase from dealers or other retailers; it came from the factory only. Having never found a name in Volkswagen literature, I gave it a name which I thought to be appropriate.

If your wiper motor sometimes doesn’t turn on, or turns off by itself, and you have to bang on the dash to get it running again, you could be suffering from a faulty ground strap. Ground straps are made of brass, which, given time, oxidizes. And, over the years, the securing nut usually has been removed, then reinstalled many times, resulting in a twisted or even broken ground strap. The solution: buy a brand new strap and be assured of a good ground. Finding that this very necessary part was unavailable, I have manufactured them for the VW Community. I have a good supply on hand. They are identical to the original straps in composition, configuration and thickness. My personal Beetle is a ’67, but these ground straps will fit ’69 and earlier Beetle and Karmann Ghia (and some other applications) 6 volt and 12 volt wiper motors (with some rare exceptions). See the photos for placement of the ground strap. For orders larger than 5, I offer a significant discount.
