I’ve not seen many (if any) vintage Volkswagen firing order posters, so I created one. It’s free, and can be downloaded in both PDF and JPG below. It can be printed up to 11×17. Be the envy of all your ’67 Beetle peers with this gem hanging in your garage.
Spark Plug photo: Bosch Media Service. (Allowed use)
Art direction / design: Eric Shoemaker
Note: For non-commercial, personal use only. Not for profit. Also, the spark plug in this poster is for generic visual representation and not 100% correct for a vintage Volkswagen.
[wpdm_file id=11] [wpdm_file id=12]There’s a chance I could make other posters in the future. Is there something special you’d like to see illustrated for your own ’67 Beetle?

Hank here from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Great idea on the poster. I plan to print off a couple for my local VW affecionados. Should look good on the wall in the shop. There are only a few numbers I can remember, my wife’s birthday and her anniversary ( this is Darwinian trait designed to aid
longevity ), VW fire order and my university student number. Don’t ask why the later refuses to sink into my mental folder of corrupt data files.
Again, cool idea. Any others on the horizon?
Thanks! Send a photo, if you do print some of them. Any request for future designs?
You should use the correct reach plugs. :)
Yes… I should.. But, then you’d have nothing to call out.
When Culver City was the VW training center in the air cooled days, I was an instructor there. We told the new mechanics to just start at 1 then count backwards from 4 and there you go. If you haven’t already figured this out, it help with valve adjustment, too. Adjust the valves on #1 the rotate the engine backwards one half turn to #4, adjust, then another half turn to #3, adjust, another half turn to #2, adjust. Ta-Da they are all done, without jumping around, neat huh? Do this a few times and your memory will soon know the firing order, too.

Hi, thx for this ! Any chance to have it in bigger format, so we can really make a poster out of it ?
Cheers.
You’re welcome. It’s set for 11×17. However, you can scale it up a bit.
Hey Eric,
If you use the shorter reach plugs in a revision, why not eliminate the brass adapters? They were never used on original issue, but maybe I’m getting too picky.

Brent,
Sure, I’d be happy to. However, these plugs were provided from BOSCH. I’d have to do a full photo shoot, etc. This was just for fun. So.. Enjoy. :)
Love this poster!!!
I like the poster just the way it is and I look forward to seeing more. Thanks, Eric!
Thanks! I like you just the way you are too.
