SOLD – L620 Savanna Beige ’67 Beetle

1967_bug-1

Just listed for sale here at 1967beetle.com. This is a very nice L620 Savanna Beige ’67 Beetle, just waiting for someone to take it home. It would not take much to make this car perfect. Info from the seller, who’s also a reader of 1967beetle.com. (Thank, you for following us!)

Hello, 1967beetle.com,

I’m the original owner of this 67 Bug bought in Fresno, California in August of ‘67. It’s been my daily driver until a few years ago when I retired. Now my wife and I are planning a move to England and I can’t take it with me. Too bad, I thought they’d bury me in it. It’s been a California car except for three years when I lived in Utah.

I think it probably has around 400,000 miles on it but, honestly, the odometer broke about 25 years ago and I never replaced it. In the 80’s I installed a 1600cc engine and it’s been very dependable. It drips a little oil, the brakes and clutch will need adjusting. The electrics work with the exception of the radio. It had a paint job (same color) and also the entire pan was replaced in the 90’s so not much rust. A ding on the front left fender and on the roof above the rear window (Ran into a garage door before it completely opened)

Regards,
Tom Husband

Hello, I'm Eric. I started Air-Cooled Artifacts (previously, 1967beetle.com and Lane Russell). I drive a '67 Beetle daily and love to share vintage Volkswagen stories with the world.

  1. What would be the shipping cost to the UK?

    1. You’d want to ask Tom.

  2. I checked on that and the estimate was around $1500 from my location in San Jose.

    1. Thx, Tom. This is a nice ’67.

Tom, I think you should take it with you.

    1. Or give it to me? :)

    2. Yeah, it’s been a big part of my life and I’ll miss it but there’s something to be said for new beginnings.

  4. Wondering how original this car is. Looking for German bumpers front and rear if so what kind of condition they are in? Also are the seat belts original and complete? Has there been an estimate for the damage to the top. Have not called Him yet to see if the car is still for sale. Might be a decent price in Califorina but would cost Me 1000.00 to ship to Chattanooga Tennessee and might be a little much for a Bug sight un-Sean. I was high bidder here recently for a nice 67 Beetle but it had after market bumpers (cheap) and the seller went up $500.00 from the price he said it could be bought for and had a rubber fuel line running under the car front to rear.

    1. The bumpers are German but they aren’t the originals. They’re in pretty good shape actually.

Seat belts aren’t original either as the originals were silly retractable lap belts only. Since the fixtures for the lap/shoulder combo belts were already there I replaced them with later model lap/shoulder belts.

I haven’t got an estimate for the roof damage.

      1. This is a reversal of my situation-in 1969 upon military transfer from England back to USA I paid $150 to ship my 67 to New Jersey-purchased in late 1966. Nowadays the British MOT as I think they refer to it (inspection for roadworthy) is quite stringent! Wondering why pans had to be replaced on a California/Utah car-maybe no under coat, perhaps too much-Jay? My floor is still up to snuff on UK/Southern car with lots of undercoat down through the years.

  5. Hi Tom,
When do you plan on moving to England?..The reason why I ask is my wife and I are coming out to visit some good friends in “Orange Co.”..Laguna Hills in mid April ,2016 ..and I didn’t know if you’d even still have your Bug or might be living in the UK by then ..Just thought I’d ask..
    Thank You,
    Butch Wyrick

  6. Do you still have the 67 for sale

  7. Hi Tom. I am interested in your bug. I am located in Lake Havasu City, Az but could pick up the bug at a moments notice if we could work out details. Can the bug be towed with a tow bar or would it need to be trailered. In other words, are the tires in good enough shape to make a trip from your home to Lake Havasu. Do you have the wall panels that go on either side of the rear seat? Do you have the original radio that was in the car? Do you have the key and does the same key fit the doors and the ignition?

    Thanks,
    dave millard

  8. Hi Tom, I am located in Dublin, about 25 minutes from your location. Do you still have it for sale?
    Thanks
