Tom Griffin’s L282 Lotus White ’67 Beetle

Tom Griffin is a recent customer of 1967beetle.com. He is a new ’67 owner and purchased one of the restored ’67 oil bath air cleaners that I offer. He sent over a few photos that were really exciting to see. The above photo is from the original owner back around 1970. At that time, the car was L456 Ruby Red.

He is now the 2nd owner and the color has been changed to L282 Lotus White. I love that the original black CA plates are still with the car. Lucky for him, the first owner painted it a correct factory VW color. I always love learning the history of these vintage Volkswagens. Each has a unique story.

Hello, I'm Eric. I started Air-Cooled Artifacts (previously, 1967beetle.com and Lane Russell). I drive a '67 Beetle daily and love to share vintage Volkswagen stories with the world.

  1. Ironically, Ruby Red is in the running for a repaint option for my L282 Beetle. :) (as is Zenith Blue and Java Green… and back to L282.. so many options!)

  2. As long as you keep it one of the Volkswagen factory colors, I’ll continue to be your friend. :)

    1. More importantly, I’m planning to keep it a color that’s a VW factory color for 1967. :) But the birth certificate does say L282… argh. :)

      1. Good idea!
