SOLD – L633 VW Blue ’67 Vert

Long time friend, Chris Vallone over at Classic VW Bugs reached out to get this L633 VW Blue ’67 vert listed. I love seeing the fresh top, and mechanicals.

We’ve always had an equal respect for each other; being that we’re both artists and appreciate the attention to detail that these gems deserve when being properly restored.

They say a photo is worth a thousand words. Take a look at the images below.

Our client contacted me sometime in 2017 in regards to my “Find-A-BuG” program wanting to surprise his wife with a 1967 VW Convertible. As you all know, the ’67 is a great year car and the last of the true vintage look. After a few months of searching, we found a ’67 in his hometown of New England. This bug was already ongoing a cosmetic makeover to get this car ready for his wife’s birthday. The bug did have a full restoration maybe a good 10 years ago. We did not paint; but we are restored the interior, top, mechanicals, engine, chrome, etc.

This L633 VW Blue ’67 Vert is for a special buyer. Is that you?

Who’s going to make an offer?

Posted by Eric Shoemaker

Hello, I'm Eric. I started Air-Cooled Artifacts (previously, 1967beetle.com and Lane Russell). I drive a '67 Beetle daily and love to share vintage Volkswagen stories with the world.

  1. The price is out of control. He must’ve lost his marbles.

    1. Hans,
I don’t believe Chris set the price; his client did. It’s a nice car for sure. Let’s see how things go.

  2. At that price, it should be Concours: Cindition #1, the best in the world. The visual image is the best vehicle, in the right colors, driving onto to the lawn at the finest concours. Perfectly clean, the vehicle has been groomed down to the tire treads. Painted and chromed surfaces are mirror-like. Dust and dirt are banned, and materials used are correct and subtly fitted. The one word description for #1 vehicles is “concours.” Hagerty Valuation Tool $53,200. If this isn’t truly “concours”, then he needs to be realistic with his asking price.

    #2 Excellent current values $34,100
    #3 Good current value $15,100
    #4 Fair current value $8,300

    Value adjustments
+ 7% for sunroof on cpe.

Peak values have dropped since late spring 2020.

    1. Mark,
Good feedback. Again, Chris didn’t set the price for this one; his client did. I was just on the phone with him. He’s going to chime in later.

    2. Also.. The price is OBO.

  3. Maybe this beetle was belong to the Chancellor of Germany at one time…who knows…

  4. Warum hat dieses Modell des 67ers, stehende Scheinwerfer?

    1. Weil es eine amerikanische Version ist.
Ich habe eine Euro-Version von 1967 und sie hat die schrägen Scheinwerfer.

  5. These are great photos, I am currently bringing my 67 vert back to OG, and these photos are great reference points. Nice car out of my range in price. ???. Bob

  6. Beautiful car, and it looks like a great restoration (I love the pictures). Is that an original muffler, restored? Eric – I think I see a couple of duplicate photos you can remove. Would you be able to tell us the final price when it does sell?

The big question is – does it come with the infamous deck lid lock dust cover???

    1. Harry,
I’ll take a look! I believe it does have the cover.

    2. I have two of those dust covers on my work bench its funny but a lot of people never remember seeing them on a car.

  7. I have a lot respect for Chris V. But if his client thinks he can recoup the restoration costs in this sale he’s is sadly misinformed on how the market works.

I guess his wife didn’t like it?

    1. Jim,
Same as well, as I’ve known Chris for over 10 years. I’ll let him speak to the asking price.

  8. Hey guys! Yeah I left a message for my client about the bug price, he figured to try this price first, “you can always come down” is the motto. It is best offer. So we will see how things go to start. Bring a Trailer has been showing some good prices in the past with these cars. So sellers like to compare to things like that.

    1. Thanks for the reply, Chris.

  9. Is the car still for sale? It’s way to pricey for me, even if I had room in the stable.

    1. I believe it is…
