Don Barker is another huge resource here at 1967beetle.com. He’s submitted some fantastic articles over the last few months. We caught up yesterday, and it looks like his l639 zenith blue ’67 is coming along nicely! More photos below.
Hey 1967beetle.com! I’ve been working on my ’67 a little. Got the engine in, and am now just finishing up some wiring. The last 10% of any project takes 90% of the time.
Keep us all updated on your progress Don!

Coming along nice. I can’t wait to start mine!
Wow! Very nice Don.
I’ve been following Don’s build thread on TheSamba but I’ll echo my comments here.. While I’m definitely more of a fan of the “keep it OG” crowd, I do love Don’s build. It looks great and classy – aggressive stance, clean lines, etc. I think Dr. Porsche would be proud, and that’s more than I can say of many of the other VW builds I’ve seen out there. :)
I agree with your comments 100%. 1967beetle.com is mostly about stock cars. However, Don’t got something very special
going on here. I’d be proud to own this ’67.
Thanks for the vote of confidence. It means a lot to me coming from Purists at https://1967beetle.com; It really does.
I’ve still got some wiring to do and, thanks to Jeremy Goodspeed’s wiring article, I just need to add one relay. Other than that, wiring is stock. I’m still looking for the “correct” horn.
I’m writing another carpet article for https://1967beetle.com, should be soon. (Don’t forget to mask the seat runners from glue!)
Thanks, again
Don
You’re doing a great job Don! Keep it up.
I’ve said this before, but this has become the site I look at daily for my ’67 Beetle info. Much less clutter than TheSamba.
Thank you. The Samba is a great resource, still.
Refreshing! What better way to be greeted of a morning than by a fresh Zenith Blue ’67 Beetle! Don…keep up the good work! jay salser
Agreed!
