Bosch Blue Coil Information

I was focused earlier in the week on writing an article about the different types of coils available for the Volkswagen Beetle. After further research, I realized it’s already been done; and very well for that matter. Richard Atwell has documented everything you need to know. He breaks it down by part number, which to buy, the good, the bad, the ugly and a nice summary.

“Can you buy the “wrong” 12V Bosch Blue coil? Well apparently, you can. I’ve never seen such variety in a single electrical item. I’ve collected all the information I know on Bosch Blue coils to help you find the right one. The more of these we buy the longer hopefully it will be produced.”

Thanks Richard for creating this great resource.

Hello, I'm Eric. I started Air-Cooled Artifacts (previously, 1967beetle.com and Lane Russell). I drive a '67 Beetle daily and love to share vintage Volkswagen stories with the world.

  1. Hi Eric,
I recently ordered the new wiring cover from Wolfsburg West for my ’67. The quality is incredible. If you haven’t ordered on you should. I had the ever so popular abs one. The WW cover fits so well It blocked air from coming throug the fuse box. Thought I’d share that with you.

  2. Kevin,
Thanks! Yeah, I saw those. I’ll get one sooner or later. I really love that WW puts so much effort into our great hobby.
