Beetle Meetup

Fellow ’67 Beetle enthusiast Tom Griffin and I (Eric Shoemaker) met up over the last weekend. We crossed paths with for the first time when I was picking up some parts from our good friends over at The BuggyHouse. He’s also one of my restored German oil bath air cleaner customers. Tom’s 282 Lotus white ’67 Beetle has a fantastic history. I’m hoping to have his featured ’67 article posted soon. Alright, let’s get on to the photos.

In case you’re wondering where my black CA plates are; they are currently being restored by’s new friend Brian at Finish Your Plates. I hope to have them back soon. That and my DMV decals which is part of the CA YOM program.

Thanks Tom for meeting up, sharing stores, etc. See you on the road.

Hello, I'm Eric. I started Air-Cooled Artifacts (previously, and Lane Russell). I drive a '67 Beetle daily and love to share vintage Volkswagen stories with the world.

  1. Great Story! I enjoyed reading it and I appreciate your “loyalty” (if you will)in your friendship with the original owner. You take car ownership to a level beyond materialistic but to a personal realm. You are the kinda guy that I one day, hope to find when I decide to sell my 67′ And, by the way- I’ve kept my running boards black also on my Savannah beige bug. it just
    looks good!! (sorry Eric)

    1. Black running boards! Meh… :)
