Another fantastic example of an L620 Savannah Beige ’67 Beetle, freshly listed here at 1967beetle.com. Kevin is a personal friend and I know it’s bitter sweet to see this gem go.
I’ve owned this car since 2012. It has rarely been driven and stays garaged all the time. I bought it from someone who rarely drove it who purchased it from someone who stored it un driven for over 10 years. This car runs and drives perfectly, it has not been restored and there is no rust underneath. It does appear to have been painted at least once. The paint job is pretty good and there is only 1 over spray discoloration on the drivers door by the lower door hinge. There are 2 small areas that have been touched up with primer on the front right fender and on the drivers window channel. These are both hard to see unless you know to look for them.
The original Sapphire V radio is present and does not work. The back up lights do not work either but are present and original. The engine block is stamped HO which makes it correct for the year of production. The fuel pump is after market but I’ve kept it on the engine because it works fine. I do have the correct rebuilt VW fuel pump for the car still in a bag ready to install if needed. Fenders, bumpers, most of the glass and all other major components to the car appear to be original factory parts for this 1967. The spare tire appears to be a late 1960’s spare and looks beautiful in the trunk which is in great condition. The headliner and interior are in very good condition and shows very little wear. I’ve won several awards for this beetle at car shows around the Chattanooga area. It will be hard find a 1967 beetle in this good of condition.
I’ve looked at literally thousands of Volkswagen Beetles—a lot of them 1967 Beetles. In the process, I’ve purchased scores of Beetles for one purpose or another. It is heartening to find an “honest” Beetle. By “honest”—I mean one that is easily identifiable at almost a glance. This Beetle belongs to Greg Minuskin, a Reader-Contributor of 1967beetle.com.
In my looking at and researching 1967 Beetles, I find that possibly the most rare of the three Models is the Sun Roof Edition. Here is one of those rare Sun Roof Editions—waiting to be driven away by its new owner!
But first, let’s get some important details squared away:
You know how I am about VINs! All three VINs (spare tire well, tunnel and title) correspond.
The Beetle for sale has 15,609 miles showing on the Odometer. You can add 100K to that, I’m sure.
With every vintage vehicle the new owner will discover some things which need refurbishing or repaired. Greg and I looked over the car with that in mind.
The trunk liner and wiring cover need to be replaced with originals or good reproductions. The ones in the car are home-made.
The door scrapers and felts need to be replaced.
Greg tells me that the running boards have some “rippling” in the rubber—this may indicate some rust-bubbles beneath the rubber. In that case, the old rubber would need to be removed, the rust removed and new rubber stretched onto the running boards again.
The carburetor is not an original VW105-1 but is a good-quality, working unit.
Also, the front windshield was changed at some point—it is not original German glass.
However, all other glass IS German Sekurit.
Greg believes that the car has had one repaint. There are no apparent bubbling spots.
The black-walled tires are not new but have plenty of tread left. Even the injection mold features still are readily apparent.

This is a 1967 Beetle Classic, “One year only” for many items, or shall I say “First and Last year for many items. It was the first year Volkswagen would convert from 6 volts to 12 volts, it was the first year they installed the pop up locks on the doors, it was the first year they installed reverse lights, it was the first year they changed the front head lamps from the traditional dome like shape to the now flat like shape, it was the first year the chrome moldings were designed thinner, it was the first year they changed driver side mirror from round to pear like shape, the engine went from a 1300 cc to a 1500 cc. It was the last year you would see the chrome over rider bumpers, the first and last year they installed a 1500 engine, the last year you would see the reverse lights exposed separately, even the interior got a face lift by adding a new dash.
I bought my car in 2011, the color is Zenith Blue L639 It had the original engine in it when I first bought it, but It had already been rebuilt by someone else in 98 and they did not use any case savers so I could not use the same case when I rebuilt my engine. I just rebuilt it last summer and have been enjoying it ever since. I built it from the original stock 1500 to the now stock 1600 engine using many of the original parts that I could salvage and restore. It has 142,461 original miles on the vehicle but only 1429 on the newly rebuilt engine. There is no rust on the vehicle. I have the Original Instruction and Maintenance Manual that came with the vehicle along with the Maintenance Card. In it, are documented the stamp seals of when the car first arrived from Germany and was inspected at the dealership, the very first maintenance and oil change to the vehicle and including the last documented oil change stamp seal from Auburn Volkswagen after I purchased the vehicle. I have the vehicles Birth Certificate and all the receipts as well. I added five new tires 165R15 B.F. Goodrich 3/4 inch white wall steel belted radial tires from Coker Tire, new struts. I have many extra parts that will go with the sale of vehicle such as two extra sets of lobster claw seat belts, all the original hubcaps, tail lenses, beauty rings, trim rings, sapphire speakers still in the box and original jack. The previous owner said someone backed into the passenger side door and he had it replaced, but never repainted properly. It has a few dings here and there but nothing major. The title is clean and is currently under collector status.
I really don’t want to sell the car, but I also don’t have the time or the money to keep adding to the vehicle at this moment so, I would like to see the vehicle go to someone who can appreciate these cars! I am not interested in any trades, however, “I will consider all offers”, and please no tire kickers. Buyer will be responsible for shipping, however, I can help coordinate if necessary. The Mr.Bubblehead license plate frames will not be included, but I will replace them with a different frame.

History of the Bug as I know it. It’s been in Colorado since at least the early 80’s possibly longer. I purchased the vehicle from a retired engineer who owned it for many years. He took care of it meticulously doing the majority of the maintenance himself. I have tried to maintain it the same fashion. I have owned it from 2013. The engine has been rebuilt, but I do not have the paperwork. It is I believe the original H case. This is an early 67 manufactured in Nov/Dec 1966. This bug is fun to drive. Transmission shifts smoothly and brakes work well. Tires show little wear. It is dependable. I often drive this vehicle on 100 mile round trips to Denver for work. It keeps up with traffic easily! It is not a show car, but would be a great candidate for full restoration or leave it just how it is.
